2021: In hindsight

Maybe it’s something else in the air, other than the invisible Covid particles that is, that makes the New Year’s day hopeful for most, if not all. This was reinforced while watching folks forced to live their lives on NYC streets revel in the joy of welcoming the new year, yelling “Happy New Year!” in response to privileged folk walking by, wishing with utmost fervor in their voices, topping those of their well-wishers.

I find it to be true personally; at the beginning of a new year, I’m most filled with hope and optimism, only to have it dwindle and reach existential crisis levels by the time…
